Pope Leo in Cusco. Pope Leo XIV (Robert Francis Prevost) is the 267th Pope of the Catholic Church and the ninth sovereign of Vatican City, having assumed the role on May 8, 2025. Pope Leo will visit the city of Cusco on the morning of Sunday, November 15, 2026. His route will take him from Cusco Airport along Velasco Astete Avenue, 28 de Julio Avenue, and El Sol Avenue to the Plaza de Armas and the Cusco Cathedral, before finally ascending to the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuamán.
Papa Leon in Cusco XIV’s main activities will include:
• ✈️ Arrival at Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport in the morning.
• 🚙 A tour of part of the city in the Popemobile, traveling along Velasco Astete, 28 de Julio, and El Sol avenues to the Plaza de Armas.
• ⛪ A visit to the Cusco Cathedral, where he will meet with representatives of the local Church.
• 🙏 A visit to Sacsayhuamán, where a mass recitation of the Holy Rosary and a blessing for a large gathering of the faithful are scheduled.
• 🗝️ The Municipality of Cusco has also announced that it will present him with the Keys to the City.
• ✈️ Afterward, he will return to the airport to continue his journey to Pucallpa.
